Reduce Usage of Plastic Materials

How many plastic bottles, plastic shopping bags or plastic food containers have you thrown away?
Take a walk around your neighbourhood. At every step you are likely to see some plastic material thrown away after use by people.
Plastic materials have become a part of our lives. We can find it in our refrigerators, cars and offices. There are so many uses for plastic.A waste group says people use 100 million tons of plastic every year!
But plastic takes 100 to 1000 years to decompose.Imagine leaving mountains of plastic waste for your children, grandchildren and great grandchildren!
Environmentalists say plastic pollutes the earth and destroy wildlife.According to Greenpeace, more than 1 million birds and 100,000 marine mammals are estimated to perish each year by either eating or becoming trapped in plastic waste.
So,how do we dispose plastic?Filling it in waste dumps may not be the solution because it takes a long time for plastic to brake down.Burning plastic materials is not good as it pollutes the air.You can recyle it but some say it cost money and labour to do it.The conclusion that more people appear to be coming to as the best choice for the future of plastic is one of two options:reuse or stop production at source.

SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT AND TO DISCUSS....

How can you replace plastic with another material so that it is not harmful to people, wildlife and the enviromnent?
